The Opti-Oat Project (“Project”) is funded and led by
PepsiCo. Working with our
research partners we aim to develop insights and tools
to provide relevant
information to optimize oat yield and quality.
The Project will require the collection of information
from designated oat crops
including, e.g., field location, sowing date, soil
physical and nutrient data,
crop management inputs, crop growth and development
metrics, grain samples,
harvest date, combine yield data, weather data and
spectral images captured via
satellite and/or unmanned aerial vehicles (collectively,
“Data”).
In addition, certain personal data will be collected
from you, which may include
your name and contact information, e.g., email,
telephone number, address
(“Personal Data”). Your Personal Data will be stored in
a secure database that
can only be accessed by authorized personnel working on
the Project and will be
used solely for the purpose of communicating with you
regarding the Project.
Your Personal Data will not be provided to any third
party without your prior
written consent. Upon completion of the Project, your
Personal Data will be
maintained in the secure database for two years. For
more information please see
PepsiCo Data Privacy
To avoid the possibility of misunderstandings, the
following statements clarify
ownership of Data and associated intellectual property
and how the output will
be used.
-
All Data provided by you will remain your
property, but all Data generated or
collected by or for PepsiCo will be and is
PepsiCo’s Data.
-
The Data collected will be used to identify key
inputs for oat production and
understand the outputs which are of greatest
interest and value to optimize
yield and quality. Specifically, PepsiCo will
use the Data to create crop
benchmarks and insights related to oat growth
and development, yield and quality
predictions, data summaries and other outputs
(“Results”).
-
The Results will be owned by and be confidential
to PepsiCo. As a participant
you will have access to a dashboard which
displays crop benchmarks comparing
data from your field with anonymized data from
other fields in the Project, as
well as in-season field assessments which may
include weather data and remote
sensing imagery. We will also share relevant
crop insights that support crop
management.
-
The crop benchmarks will use aggregated Data
from all fields in the Project, but
we undertake not to make any Data or Results
identifiable to your specific
fields available to other parties without your
permission. We will only use
anonymized or aggregated Results to promote or
describe the function of the
Quaker Opti-Oat Project externally.
Please note that this is a research project and as such
PepsiCo or its research
partners cannot guarantee the accuracy of the Results
provided, and the Results
will be provided to you “AS IS”.
We wish to thank you for your consideration and future
support which are central
to the success of the Project and improving oat yield and
quality for Quaker.
